Astral Projection begins with families of asteroids — i.e., asteroids with related properties likely to originate from the same source — and overlays them with the mythologies of their namesakes and the biographical details of important women in my life. Associations between isolated fragments of text are uncovered in the manner of astronomers reconstructing familial relationships between fragments of spaceborne rock. These poems attempt to simulate the observation and interpretation of the transient bodies which inform our notions of history, position, and belonging within the cosmos.
