𝘥[S T I L L] collection cover

Glitch ROM abstracts distilled from corrupted PS1 games. Each 𝘥[S T I L L] is a crunchy, colorful still frame extracted from the one of thirty-three different video game ROMs. Some are edited, but most are raw output from a PS1 console emulator.

𝘥[S T I L L] derives from the F A I L S T A T E collection of GIF animations but focuses instead on exceptional individual frames, most of which were cut during animation. These 100 stills were handpicked from well over 1 million frames recorded during glitch sessions held throughout 2025. While F A I L S T A T E pushes its source material to the limits of recognition, 𝘥[S T I L L] forsakes recognition altogether, aiming instead to reveal the aesthetics of the unusual graphical systems making the PS1 so visually distinct.

The collection takes its name from De Stijl (The Style) — a movement in abstract art emphasizing straight lines and primary colors — and is strongly influenced by Elementarism, a theory evolving from De Stijl that allowed for an expanded palette, asymmetry, dynamism, and imbalance. 𝘥[S T I L L] likewise diverges from geometric regularity, extending the logic of abstraction through corruption and distillation to the video game archive.
