Gourmand

Gourmand chapbook cover

How do we consume language? What makes a poem palatable? Which utterances are most easily digested? Gourmand raises these questions and more by submersing the alphabet in an assortment of visceral substances and chemical processes alien to familiar modes of communication. How do letters and bodies interface? Are these poems even fit for human consumption?

Gourmand was published as a chapbook by Paper View Books in 2022. Giclée prints of Gourmand have been produced in editions of two signed and numbered copies each. Animated GIFs of several of these poems were minted to the Tezos blockchain in editions of 1.

Exhibition

this is a poem

April 1 - 30, 2023
Calgary Central Library, Calgary, AB, Canada

A selection of artist prints from Gourmand appeared in an exhibition of concrete and visual poetry curated by Kevin Stebner at Calgary's Central Public Library. 'this is a poem' included works by several Alberta-based visual poets, including derek beaulieu, Samantha Jones, katie o'brien, and Kevin Stebner. We gathered at the library for an opening reception on the afternoon of Saturday, April 8, and the work was exhibited all through April 2023.
